Our story runs from the Joseon court to a smart farm in Geumsan. The thread through it is one plant, and the care it takes to grow it well.
A French word for liveliness and vitality, chosen for a Korean ingredient that has stood for both for centuries.
Vivacité is a skincare brand of Oriental Soul Co., Ltd., based in Daejeon. Our ginseng comes from The Light & Salt Biotechnology, an agricultural company in Geumsan that grows it and holds the extraction patent behind Radiance Ginseng extract.
From Donguibogam to the royal bath
Donguibogam, compiled by the royal physician Heo Jun in 1613, records that ginseng leaves and stems moisten dry skin and help clear boils and rough, flaking skin.
In the late Joseon period, women of the royal court and noble families bathed in water steeped with ginseng. We started from that inherited knowledge and asked how far modern cultivation could take it.
What Radiance Ginseng means
Radiance Ginseng, or 빛삼, is ginseng grown under conditions found through nine years of testing: the temperature, humidity and light that raise its ginsenoside content. The name is registered and used only for Vivacité products.
Ginseng berries normally appear only once a plant is four years old or more. The smart farm's growing method brings every Radiance Ginseng plant to flower, so the extract can include berries, which hold two to five times more saponins than the root.
The Light & Salt Biotechnology
Our cultivation and extraction partner is located in Geumsan, Korea's best-known ginseng region. It was incorporated in July 2014 as an agricultural company that brings smart-farm technology into ginseng growing.
The 100,000 m² site holds a ginseng research laboratory, 40 plant-growing smart farm units and cold storage. After signing an MOU with Happy L&B, the company set up a cosmetics division, which led to the formula of the Radiance Ginseng Gold Serum.
